The Rajasthan Police have issued a crucial warning about a surge in cyber frauds targeting citizens. Criminals are pretending to be income tax officials, luring individuals with false refund messages.

Officials revealed this development on Saturday, citing an increasing number of reports from individuals receiving deceptive messages and emails that promise substantial tax refunds. These communications seek financial details to proceed.

Additional Director General (Cyber Crime) Vijay Kumar Singh stated that fraudsters usually request sensitive information such as bank account details and card information, often sending phishing links to fake websites designed to steal data. Singh stressed that the Income Tax Department never seeks such information via SMS or email, as it already has these details from ITR filings. The police advisory insists on verifying all communications through the official income tax portal and avoiding unfamiliar refund-related links.
