Kanchanpreet Kaur, daughter of a Shiromani Akali Dal leader, was released early Sunday after a dramatic late-night court session in Tarn Taran. The court ruled her arrest as unconstitutional, overturning the non-bailable offense charged against her.

The hearing began late Saturday night and concluded around 4 a.m., during which her counsel, Arshdeep Singh Kler, challenged the legitimacy of her arrest. The case has been labeled as political vendetta by the SAD, while the AAP-linked authorities assert her involvement in electoral intimidation.

Initially detained for alleged involvement in threatening a voter during a bypoll, Kanchanpreet's arrest was met with legal challenges by her counsel, arguing it to be unlawful. Meanwhile, her husband faces multiple FIRs, and state authorities continue to press serious charges against her.
