Al Falah University's founder, Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, faces a 14-day judicial custody as ordered by a Delhi court, linked to alleged money laundering involving terror finances.
Siddiqui was previously under Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody for 13 days. On appearing in court before Additional Sessions Judge Sheetal Chaudhary Pradhan, it was highlighted that Monday technically marked the 12th day of his custody, although ED argued the prosecution's timing was premature.
The ED accuses the university of inflating UGC recognition, fabricating NAAC accreditation, and mismanaging funds purportedly collected for personal enrichment. The initial arrest uncovered Rs 48 lakh in cash during searches, prompting extended investigations.
