In a significant breakthrough, the Delhi Police have arrested two individuals involved in an interstate gang accused of stealing and reselling high-end vehicles. As part of an intensified effort against organised auto-lifting networks, the police recovered two stolen cars, including an SUV.
The arrests came after heightened surveillance measures, including CCTV footage analysis and tracking recently released habitual offenders, helped pinpoint key suspects. On November 29, police received information that notorious auto-lifter Sunil alias Bunty was back in action and planning to negotiate deals for stolen vehicles in Gurugram, leading to his interception.
Sunil's confession led to the arrest of Anees Ahmed, a workshop owner accused of refurbishing and reselling stolen cars. Stolen vehicles were found with fake registration plates and shaved chassis markings, underscoring a wide-ranging theft operation spanning Delhi, Haryana, and Rajasthan. The investigation is ongoing.
