Retired Justice Appointed as New Lokayukta of West Bengal

The appointment, chaired by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, was finalized without the presence of Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari, although he was officially invited.

The announcement followed a session conducted by the Lokayukta Committee, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Interestingly, the Leader of the Opposition, Suvendu Adhikari, who is also part of the committee, did not attend the meeting.

Despite the absence of Suvendu Adhikari, an official invitation had been sent to his office, ensuring the adherence to protocol, the official added. The development marks an important step in West Bengal's governance framework.
