Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala has raised concerns over the Sabarimala gold loss, warning of links to a global trafficking racket in antiquities. He intends to push for an expansive investigation by submitting a letter to the police team involved in the case.
Chennithala suggests connections to an international network, potentially led by renowned antiques dealer Subhash Kapoor. Despite allegations of transactions, substantial evidence remains absent. He estimates the stolen gold plates' value could reach Rs 500 crore in the black market, contrasting a Rs 50 crore domestic estimate.
While accusing the Kerala government and CPI(M) leadership of shielding the accused, Chennithala calls for a comprehensive probe. He also critiques CPI(M) MP John Brittas's role in federal-state dealings, arguing it favors CM Pinarayi Vijayan's interests. Simultaneously, he highlights growing support for the UDF in upcoming elections due to local governance issues.
