The Uttar Pradesh Police made a significant arrest on Friday, detaining a constable stationed in Kanpur for his supposed involvement in a honey-trap scheme perpetrating extortion on unsuspecting victims.
According to Additional Deputy Police Commissioner Aditya, the constable, identified as Riyaz, was part of an illicit gang exposed by the Kamla Nagar police earlier this week. This development follows the apprehension of a woman and her male partner on Tuesday.
The case emerged following a victim's report at the Kamla Nagar police station, where it was alleged that a woman lured him into a hotel, incapacitated him with drugged drinks, and subsequently blackmailed him with indecent footage. Investigations led to arrests, but several gang members remain at large according to the police.
