A Delhi court has extended the National Investigation Agency's (NIA) custody of notorious gangster Anmol Bishnoi by an additional seven days. The order was made by Special Judge Prashant Sharma during a hearing conducted at the NIA headquarters due to high security concerns.
The proceedings were shifted from the usual venue at Patiala House courts because of threats against Bishnoi from Pakistani gangster Shahzad Bhatti. The NIA requested the extension to advance their investigation into Bishnoi's alleged criminal activities.
Bishnoi, wanted for serious offences like the killing of NCP leader Baba Siddique and incidents involving actor Salman Khan and singer Sidhu Moosewala, was deported from the US on November 18. He is the 19th person arrested as part of a syndicate led by his brother, Lawrence Bishnoi.
