In a landmark judgment, a special court on Friday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for the heinous crime of raping a nine-year-old disabled girl. A fine of Rs 55,000 was also imposed as part of the penalty.
Special Judge Mohammad Babar Khan of the Special Court (POCSO Act) found the accused, Virendra, guilty of rape under sections of the POCSO Act. Government advocates Narendra Chauhan and Avkash Jain confirmed the court's decision to levy a rigorous life sentence along with the imposed fine.
The case, registered on May 29, 2022, at Mundali police station, involved allegations by the victim's father that Virendra entered their home and assaulted his daughter, who suffers from physical and mental disabilities. The police investigation substantiated these claims, resulting in a decisive judgment on Friday.
