The Odisha Assembly found itself plunged into chaos on Friday following uproar from opposition BJD and Congress members over a question paper leak for the Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM) exam. The leak occurred three hours before the examination was set to begin at 2 PM, prompting authorities to cancel the test.
The controversy surfaced when Congress MLA CS Raazen Ekka flagged the issue in the Assembly during discussions on unemployment. Ekka claimed the ANM exam paper was leaked at 11 AM, leading to significant disruptions. The session saw further commotion as senior BJD member Ranendra Pratap Swain called for accountability from Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi amid allegations of irregularities in exam conduct.
Despite appeals from Speaker Surama Padhy, opposition members were relentless, chanting slogans and disrupting proceedings. Ultimately, the Health Minister announced the cancellation of the exam and promised a thorough investigation. Meanwhile, candidates and parents have voiced their outrage, demanding stringent measures against those responsible for the leak.
