Expelled Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil, facing serious charges of rape and forced abortion, has approached the sessions court for anticipatory bail in a second sexual assault case shortly after receiving interim protection from the Kerala High Court.
His lawyer, advocate Ajithkumar Sasthamangalam, highlighted the urgency of the situation, stating that they have filed a plea urging the police to halt any arrest procedures following the High Court's directive. They are pushing for the sessions court's prompt attention to the matter.
Mamkootathil, who has evaded capture since his first case, was expelled from the Congress party days after the dismissing of his first anticipatory bail plea. The second accusation, lodged by a Bengaluru resident, adds to the MLA's escalating legal troubles.
