Congress MLA Thokchom Lokeshwar has called for immediate action, demanding the arrest of those who damaged a significant portion of border fencing along the India-Myanmar border in Manipur's Chandel district.
Unknown individuals have reportedly cut down between 160 to 200 meters of newly erected fencing near Changbol village, an act believed to have occurred on the night of December 2, according to officials.
The lawmaker from Khundrakpam has questioned the efficiency of the security forces, including Assam Rifles and central forces, deployed in the area, as no arrests have been made. Lokeshwar has urged the government to be transparent and allow media access to witness the repair efforts underway.
