In a high-profile verdict, the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court acquitted Malayalam actor Dileep in the 2017 sexual assault case that shook Kerala. Six other accused, including the main culprit, Sunil N S alias Pulsar Suni, were found guilty of the crime.

The court's decision was announced by Judge Honey M Varghese, marking the end of a lengthy trial process. The crime, which involved the abduction and assault of a South Indian actress, had sparked widespread outrage.

Despite Dileep's acquittal, the court sentenced several others, holding them accountable for the heinous act. Dileep's arrest in July 2017 followed allegations linking him to the conspirators, but his subsequent bail paved the way for his recent acquittal.
