Tribal Tensions Erupt in Odisha: Prohibitory Orders Enforced

In Odisha's Malkangiri district, a prohibitory order has been implemented in response to unrest between local tribal groups, sparked by the gruesome discovery of a tribal woman's headless body. The incident prompted severe community tensions, leading to a violent altercation.

On Sunday, residents of Rakhelguda massed against those of neighboring MV-26 village, damaging property and setting buildings ablaze. The violence was a response to the delay in justice over the death of the woman, identified as Lake Padiami, whose body was found by a riverbank.

Authorities have detained two individuals, while many from MV-26 have fled amidst the chaos. Senior officials, including police and administrative personnel, have intervened and held conciliatory meetings to quell the discord, emphasizing the necessity for prompt investigative action.
