The Bihar government announced significant actions to counter illegal mining and overloading, imposing a Rs 10 lakh fine on vehicle owners involved in such activities. Cash rewards are offered to those aiding in the arrest of offenders, aiming to curb this unlawful practice.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha stated that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar emphasized strict law enforcement. The government's intent and policy are clear—illegal mining will be eradicated with the help of public participation, including media persons and social media influencers.
In collaboration with police and civil administration, the mining department is conducting state-wide raids. Recent operations led to the seizure of 28 tractors involved in illegal sand sales and the imposition of a Rs 32 lakh fine. Legal actions are being pursued against offenders under relevant mining rules.
