In a show of solidarity, West Bengal's Booth Level Officers gathered outside the Chief Electoral Officer's office, voicing demands for adequate compensation after one of their colleagues suffered a severe brain stroke attributed to work stress.
Debashish Das, a BLO from Frasergaunge Gram Panchayat, reportedly collapsed due to the intense workload associated with the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. The protestors brought him in an ambulance, highlighting their grievances.
The BLO Adhikar Raksha Committee leaders emphasized the urgent need for mitigation of the burdensome workload and argued for equal support, comparing it to state-provided ex-gratia for other election-duty casualties.
