A 39-year-old man from Bihar's Aurangabad district has been apprehended for allegedly circulating explicit photos of a woman, sparked by a marriage proposal breakdown over dowry disputes, according to local authorities.
The complainant, based in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district, alleged that the man disseminated photos obtained during intimate video calls, incited by unmet dowry expectations. The duo's relationship began after meeting at a wedding, with communication continuing post-COVID lockdown, stated Sub-Divisional Police Officer Rapheal Murmu.
Despite assurances of marriage, the accused reneged in 2023, subsequently demanding Rs five lakh to withhold the release of compromising images. The police, equipped with technical evidence, conducted a raid leading to his arrest on Monday, with his brother still at large for complicity in the blackmail scheme.
