Bolsonaro's Legal Team Pushes for Hospital Transfer
Lawyers for former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro have requested his transfer from jail to a hospital for medical procedures. They also seek permission for him to serve his prison sentence under house arrest on humanitarian grounds, following his conviction for plotting a coup.
Defense lawyers for former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro are pushing for his transfer from jail to a hospital. They argue he requires 'surgical procedures', according to a document reviewed by Reuters.
The legal team is also urging the judiciary to allow Bolsonaro to serve his 27-year prison sentence under 'humanitarian house arrest.' This appeal comes after his recent imprisonment for attempting a coup against his successor, President Lula.
Bolsonaro is currently held at a Federal Police Superintendency in Brasilia, following his failed bid to overturn the results of Brazil's 2022 presidential election.
