A wanted criminal, Abdul alias Saif, was discovered dead in the Ganga River. Known for a brutal attack on a woman, he had a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head. The police are now probing the cause of his death.
The incident occurred near the Kotwali Katra police station, where Abdul allegedly sliced a Hindu girl's neck earlier this month. The victim was hospitalized and subsequently transferred to Varanasi for further medical care. This attack sparked significant protests by Hindu organizations demanding Abdul's immediate arrest.
In response, SP Somen Verma organized four police teams to capture Abdul, resulting in the detention of nine of his associates. The investigation into both the murder and the mystery surrounding Abdul's death continues under the supervision of ASP Nitesh Singh.
