Delhi Bolsters Fire Safety Inspections After Goa Tragedy

In response to a tragic fire in Goa, which claimed 25 lives, the Delhi Fire Service is conducting thorough inspections of hotels and clubs. The government is tightening fire safety regulations and ensuring establishments meet required standards during the festive season to prevent such incidents.

In the wake of a devastating fire at a Goa nightclub that claimed 25 lives, the Delhi Fire Service has been directed to intensify inspections of various public venues. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Delhi Home Minister Ashish Sood highlighted the crucial need for stricter fire safety measures amid the festive season.

A Nedunchezhiyan, Principal Director of the Delhi Fire Service, issued a directive for immediate inspections by divisional and assistant divisional officers, targeting restaurants, hotels, and clubs across the city. These checks aim to ensure that standards set under Rule 33 of the Delhi Fire Service Rules, 2010, are adhered to.

In an effort to optimize fire safety practices, enhanced data sharing with GST authorities and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has been initiated. This will aid in better risk management and streamlined regulatory processes. Establishments flouting fire safety norms will face stringent actions as part of the government's robust preventive strategy.
