In a dramatic turn of events, Kolkata Police have apprehended three individuals accused of assaulting two food vendors at a Gita recital event in the city, according to a senior police officer on Thursday.

The arrests were made following complaints filed at Maidan police station, detailing the alleged assault during the 'Paanch Lokkho Konthe Gita Paath,' an event organized by 'Sanatan Sanskriti Sansad' at Kolkata's Brigade Parade Ground on December 7.

The complainants, who had traveled from Topsia and Arambagh, were selling chicken patties when confronted for offering non-vegetarian food at the event. The attackers reportedly destroyed their stock, forced them into humiliating acts, and fled. Police verified the incident through video evidence that later circulated widely on social media.
