Parents Imprisoned for Honour Killing of Daughter in 2023

A couple, Ashok Yadav and Rama Devi, were sentenced to life imprisonment by a Mainpuri court for the honour killing of their daughter. Accused of killing their daughter Jyoti for being in a relationship, they were fined Rs 60,000 each, while their sons were acquitted due to insufficient evidence.

In a significant ruling, a Mainpuri court sentenced a couple to life imprisonment for the honour killing of their daughter earlier this year.

Judge Jahendra Pal Singh delivered the sentence to Ashok Yadav and Rama Devi after they were found guilty of murdering 24-year-old Jyoti on the suspicion of her being in a romantic relationship.

Though evidence led to the parents' conviction, their sons, Amit, Anuj, and Avanish, were acquitted due to lack of sufficient proof.
