Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has chastised officials involved in the registration of unlawful land agreements, emphasizing the need for due diligence. This criticism arises amid a controversy involving a notice demanding Rs 21 crore from his son Parth Pawar as stamp duty and penalties related to a contentious land deal in Pune.
This matter has drawn significant political criticism, with Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut questioning whether any government official possesses the courage to challenge the deputy CM's influence. The Bombay High Court has also interrogated the police investigation, suggesting that Parth Pawar might be shielded by not being named in the FIR.
The controversy involves a 40-acre land deal in Pune, sold to Amadea Enterprises LLP, where Parth Pawar is a majority partner. Allegations include exemption from a Rs 21 crore stamp duty and illegal sale of government land. A committee has named several individuals involved, but Parth Pawar's name is notably absent as he was not listed on any documents.
