The Uttar Pradesh government announced that the state has surpassed others in digitally registering Waqf properties nationwide. Data reveals that 92,832 properties were registered on the Ummeed portal—a platform mandated by the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs—with the state leading the effort within the designated timeframe.
Despite the deadline being extended by another six months past December 5, 2025, Uttar Pradesh completed its registration prior to any further delays. The breakdown includes 86,347 Sunni and 6,485 Shia Waqf properties, showing the state's substantial contribution as compared to other states across India.
State officials credited awareness campaigns and administrative support for this achievement, stating that the digital process would ensure better management, protection, and transparency of the registered properties. Additionally, districts like Lucknow and Barabanki have shown exemplary registration numbers, contributing significantly to this initiative.
