The Delhi Police have successfully dismantled a significant interstate cyber fraud syndicate involved in online investment scams surpassing Rs 16 crore. After a complaint surfaced on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, authorities sprang into action, arresting nine individuals believed to be part of this extensive fraud network, a senior official announced on Thursday.

The fraudulent activities were uncovered when a victim reported being deceived through promises of guaranteed investment returns via social media. An FIR led to an exploration of the money trail, revealing that the defrauded funds were channeled through various bank accounts linked to one Shoukath Ali—a breakthrough that prompted police to detain him in Kerala.

Interrogation of Ali exposed a web of cyber fraud operations spanning Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, and connections extending to Dubai. With this intelligence, police formed teams for simultaneous raids leading to the arrest of eight additional suspects. Seized items included mobile phones, SIM cards, and various banking materials, connected to 286 national complaints, suggesting a scam larger than Rs 16 crore.
