In a recent operation, security forces in Manipur's Imphal West district have arrested seven individuals, including four members of the proscribed United National Liberation Front (Pambei), for hijacking a truck transporting fish, police reported on Friday.

The apprehended members are identified as Borish Sagolsem, Herojit Sharma, Asem Amar Meitei, and Md Salman Khan. Despite the UNLF(P) signing a peace accord with the government in 2023, its members continue to engage in illegal activities, including extortion and arms trafficking.

The police have also seized the hijacked truck, two tipper trucks used in the operation, and the iced fish boxes that were being transported. In a separate operation, 16 IEDs were discovered and defused by the bomb disposal squad in the Kangvai area of Churachandpur district, near areas recently affected by violence.
