The North West Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has dismissed as false an audio recording circulating on social media, which alleges that the department recruited individuals from other provinces for a learnership programme at the Kgora Farmers Training Centre and that these individuals are receiving remuneration from the department.

In a statement, the department said it categorically rejects and distances itself from the allegations contained in the recording.

“The contents of the audio are false, misleading and deliberately intended to create confusion and mistrust among members of the public. At no stage has the department engaged in the practices alleged in the recording,” the department said.

Commitment to Transparent Processes

The department assured the public that all its programmes, including learnerships and skills development initiatives, are implemented in strict compliance with applicable policies, procedures and legal requirements.

It emphasised that recruitment processes are conducted transparently and are guided by the principles of fairness, equity and accountability.

Call for Responsible Information Sharing

Members of the public were urged to refrain from sharing or circulating unverified and misleading information, warning that the spread of false content undermines the integrity of government institutions and misinforms communities that rely on accurate communication about public programmes and opportunities.

Focus on Agricultural Empowerment

The department reiterated its commitment to empowering communities in the North West province through sustainable agricultural development, skills training and meaningful support to farmers.
