High Stakes Battle: Karisma Kapoor Faces New Legal Challenge Over Divorce Settlement

The Supreme Court has requested Karisma Kapoor's response to Priya Sachdev Kapur's plea for a certified copy of a 2016 divorce settlement with late husband Sunjay Kapur. Priya, widow of Sunjay, is embroiled in a legal dispute over his assets, as Karisma's children contest his will favoring Priya.

The Supreme Court on Friday requested a response from Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor regarding a plea filed by Priya Sachdev Kapur. Priya, the widow of industrialist Sunjay Kapur, seeks a certified copy of the divorce settlement reached in 2016 between Karisma and the late Sunjay Kapur.

This legal development carries significant implications as Priya Sachdev Kapur is currently engaged in a formidable estate battle in the Delhi High Court. Last September, Karisma Kapoor's children contested their late father's will, which allegedly leaves his entire personal estate to their stepmother, Priya.

Sunjay Kapur passed away last year, allegedly due to a sudden cardiac arrest during a polo match in England. The Supreme Court bench led by Justice A S Chandurkar has given Karisma Kapoor two weeks to respond to Priya's plea, which has been met with objections from Karisma's legal team, arguing Priya's lack of locus standi.
