In a significant move, the Indore bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court has ordered the state government to develop a detailed compensation policy for individuals injured or killed by the banned Chinese manjha, a sharp nylon kite string.
The court's directive follows a suo-motu action and emphasizes the disposal of seized synthetic manjha through industrial incinerators or authorized recycling facilities. The court also stressed the prohibition of its sale on major e-commerce platforms and tasked the Cyber Cell with enforcing this ban by geofencing the entire state of Madhya Pradesh.
Furthermore, the High Court urged the state authorities to run awareness campaigns against the use of Chinese manjha, enforcing the ban on its manufacture, sale, and use. The Chief Secretary is expected to coordinate with various departments to implement these policies effectively.
