In a dramatic police encounter near Doraha, two criminals were apprehended after a fierce exchange of gunfire on Monday. The accused, identified as Harsimran Singh Mand and Avonjot Singh Pandol, were intercepted at a police checkpoint.
According to Superintendent of Police Pawanjeet Singh, the police set up the checkpoint following a tip-off regarding their movements. As the suspects' vehicle approached, shots were fired at the officers, prompting a swift retaliatory response that left Mand injured.
While Inspector Akash Dutt was struck by a bullet, his bulletproof jacket prevented any harm. The suspects were overpowered and disarmed, with two weapons recovered. The police have launched a full-scale investigation into the duo's activities.
