In a significant breakthrough, police apprehended Manoj Rathee, a high-profile member of the Kapil Sangwan gang, at Delhi airport. Rathee, 33, had been evading authorities for almost two years and was implicated in several criminal cases, including a 2021 murder, before his recent arrest.
Rathee was detained at the Indira Gandhi International Airport on January 9, where a Look Out Circular (LOC) facilitated his capture. He had previously fled the country following the arrest of associates linked to an Arms Act case involving illegal firearms destined for him.
Authorities revealed that Rathee had formed ties with gangster Kapil Sangwan in 2019. Under his direction, Rathee and his collaborators allegedly committed a murder in 2021. Post-arrest, Rathee managed to escape the jurisdiction, continuing his criminal endeavors from abroad until his return to India was forcibly made.
