In a tragic incident in Jharkhand's Giridih district, a woman and her minor daughter allegedly took their own lives after reportedly facing harassment from loan recovery agents, according to local police.
Putul Devi, aged 39, and her 16-year-old daughter were discovered hanging in their home at Gadi Shrirampur. The distressing discovery was made by relatives on Monday morning, said Shyam Mahato, officer-in-charge at Giridih Mufassil Police Station.
Devi's husband reported that she had taken a loan of Rs 5 lakh, struggled with repayment, and was constantly harassed by recovery agents. The police sent the bodies for autopsy and are investigating the incident from all possible angles.
