On Monday, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti emphasized the need for divisional status for the Pir Panjal and Chenab Valley regions in Jammu to improve administrative outreach. Addressing the 'Gal Baat' program in Rajouri, Mufti highlighted the necessity for localized governance amidst Jammu and Kashmir's current challenges.

Mufti stressed the importance of creating more districts for efficient administrative functioning, citing difficulties in existing managerial structures. She argued that divisional commissioners stationed in local areas would prevent residents from traveling extensively to access administrative services.

Further, Mufti underlined the educational and healthcare challenges faced by residents, such as unfilled vacancies and limited opportunities for local students. She expressed concerns over unemployment in border regions and called for special recruitment drives, while also advocating for the development of tourism and horticulture.
