In a devastating ambush in northwest Nigeria, five soldiers and one police officer have lost their lives, the army reported. The attack took place in Zamfara state, with the Nigerian army identifying the assailants as terrorists.
The troops responded with determination, successfully thwarting further escalation. This incident follows the capture of three suspects and the recovery of weaponry in the region.
In a separate operation, 62 captives were liberated from the known stronghold of bandit leader Kachalla Alti. The northwest region continues to endure unrest with increasing kidnappings and insurgency activities.
