In a significant push to strengthen transparency, accountability and citizen-centric governance in the management of Waqf properties, the Ministry of Minority Affairs on 30 January 2026 launched two new digital modules on the UMEED Central Portal—the Survey Module and the Waqf Property Lease Management Module.
The modules were launched by Dr. Chandra Shekhar Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs, in the presence of senior ministry officials, marking another milestone in the government’s drive to modernize Waqf administration through technology.
Digitising Surveys and Leasing of Waqf Properties
The newly introduced Survey Module provides a comprehensive digital framework for capturing, managing and updating data related to surveys of Waqf properties. It enables standardized, real-time recording of survey information on the portal, improving data accuracy and oversight.
The Waqf Property Lease Management Module offers end-to-end digital management of leasing-related information. It allows systematic recording and monitoring of key details such as lease tenure, lease amounts and other contractual particulars, ensuring greater transparency, traceability and accountability in the leasing of Waqf assets.
Strengthening Digital Governance
The launch reflects the Ministry’s continued efforts to leverage e-governance tools to improve efficiency and public trust in Waqf property management. Dr. Chandra Shekhar Kumar urged all State and Union Territory Waqf Boards to ensure widespread implementation of the new modules and to actively raise awareness among eligible beneficiaries.
