In a shocking incident in Kochi, cyber crime police have apprehended three people accused of cheating a young doctor out of Rs 37 lakh. The culprits allegedly posed as an NRI woman on a matrimonial website, enticing the victim to invest in a trading application with promises of high returns.
The authorities revealed that the scam was orchestrated using a fake matrimonial profile created by Sooraj Krishnan, who communicated with the doctor from Cambodia. Along with accomplices Adil K P and Mohammed Faisal, they orchestrated the fraudulent transactions by withdrawing the money through various bank accounts.
During the investigation, police discovered a connection to a broader Cambodia-based cybercrime group known for trading scams and loan frauds, reportedly managed by Chinese nationals with Indian associates. Officials are analyzing digital evidence to uncover the full extent of the network involved.
