An illegal MD drug manufacturing unit that masqueraded as a grocery store has been dismantled by the Rajasthan Police in Pratapgarh district, officials announced on Monday. The sophisticated operation led to the confiscation of narcotics and raw materials valued at an estimated Rs 5 crore.

Pratapgarh Superintendent of Police, B Aditya, stated that the raid was conducted following a credible tip-off. Officers were met with a pungent chemical smell and eye irritation upon entering the premises, which was a front for the illegal drug lab.

The investigation resulted in a significant haul: 106 grams of pure MD and 114.750 kilograms of liquid chemicals intended for MD production. The culprits, identified as Dharmchand Mogra Jain and Rohit Mogra Jain, absconded before the police arrival. Multiple teams have been deployed to apprehend them. A case is filed under the NDPS Act, and further investigation continues.
