Delhi Court Dismisses Charges Against Raja Bhaiya

A Delhi court dismissed charges against Uttar Pradesh's Kunda MLA Raghuraj Pratap Singh, alias Raja Bhaiya, related to cruelty allegations by his estranged wife. The court cited lack of recent evidence of cruelty and time-barred allegations from 2015 as reasons for not taking cognisance of the case.

In a significant ruling, a Delhi court declined to take cognisance of a chargesheet against Uttar Pradesh's Kunda MLA, Raghuraj Pratap Singh, also known as Raja Bhaiya, concerning allegations of cruelty towards his estranged wife. The court found the charges to be unsubstantiated and outdated.

The court, presided over by Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Ashwani Panwar, noted that allegations traced back to 2015 lacked the proximate acts required to substantiate charges under IPC Section 498A. It also mentioned that additional claims of assault were unverified according to medical records reviewed by the police.

Emphasizing the necessity for continuous and recent cruel conduct to invoke criminal law, the court pointed out that expired claims can't be revived without substantial evidence. It also criticized the delayed reporting and lack of evidence for dismissing the complaint.
