India and Tanzania are set to intensify their defense collaboration following a pivotal bilateral meeting, officials reported Tuesday. The discussions focused on expanding military training and maritime security, as both nations endeavor to enhance their armed forces' interoperability.

In the fourth iteration of the Joint Defence Cooperation Committee meeting held in Zanzibar on February 2-3, the countries committed to cooperating between their air forces, adding to existing naval and army partnerships. Topics spanned military training, maritime security, and defense industry collaboration.

They also explored counterterrorism, peacekeeping training, and niche areas like electronic warfare, cyber defense, and artificial intelligence. Additionally, military medicine emerged as a new cooperation avenue. The Indian delegation, led by Amitabh Prasad, joined with Tanzanian counterpart Ibrahim Mhona and Indian High Commissioner Bishwadip Dey, aligning with a five-year strategic roadmap.
