The Gurugram police successfully dismantled a notorious gang allegedly responsible for a string of thefts executed by hitching rides between Delhi and Gurugram. Authorities reported the arrest of four suspects, including three individuals from the transgender community, amid their crackdown efforts on Tuesday.

The break came following a complaint from a man who reported a robbery on December 8, 2025. The incident unfolded on the Dwarka Expressway when a woman hitchhiker allegedly stole his gold chain after initiating a conversation. This led to the filing of an FIR, prompting a thorough investigation by the Sector 17 crime unit.

The police, detailing the gang's modus operandi, revealed that the suspects traveled from Delhi in their associate Kayamuddin's vehicle, seeking rides with unsuspecting drivers. While in transit, they would engage victims in conversation before stealing jewelry or belongings. Items stolen were subsequently passed on to accomplice Shobha. Currently, all four suspects remain in custody as the investigation continues.
