Elon Musk's Social Network Under Fire: Global Investigations Intensify
Authorities in Europe, including French police, have intensified investigations on Elon Musk's social media network X. Allegations include algorithm abuse, fraudulent data extraction, and production of harmful sexual content. The Paris prosecutor's cybercrime unit is probing into alleged complicity in child-pornographic imagery. The UK watchdog is also investigating Musk's chatbot Grok.
Elon Musk's social media platform, X, is now embroiled in a growing scandal as European authorities increase scrutiny over its operations. French police raided the network's Paris offices on Tuesday as part of a larger investigation into alleged abuses involving algorithms and data extraction.
The Paris prosecutor's office spearheads an investigation linked to X's artificial-intelligence chatbot, Grok, scrutinizing possible involvement in the production and distribution of child-pornographic material. Musk, alongside former CEO Linda Yaccarino, has been summoned for questioning in April, stirring tensions between Europe and the U.S.
The UK's Information Commissioner's Office and media regulator Ofcom have also launched inquiries into Grok. In response, the Paris prosecutor's office announced its departure from using X, opting to communicate via LinkedIn and Instagram henceforth.
