A city court has sentenced Shree Jogdhankar to life imprisonment for the brutal murder of Jhanvi Kukreja, a teen from Mumbai. The conviction comes after the court deliberated on the evidence, including hair bunches found at the crime scene, which was crucial in proving the assault.
The murder took place on January 1, 2021, during a New Year's Eve party in a building in Khar. Police investigations revealed that Jhanvi was attacked on the staircase after an altercation among her friends, including Jogdhankar and Diya Padalkar. The court emphasized Jogdhankar's intent, discarding arguments of accident or suicide.
While Jogdhankar received a life sentence, Diya Padalkar was acquitted due to a lack of clear evidence of complicity. The court's decision was based on the detailed scrutiny of the chain of events, concluding that the violent scuffle led to Jhanvi's fatal fall from the staircase.
