Speaker Dismisses MLA Disqualification Plea

Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar dismissed a petition by BRS seeking the disqualification of Jagtial MLA M Sanjay Kumar. The petition alleged he defected to Congress. Sanjay Kumar maintains he remains with BRS despite media reports suggesting otherwise. Similar pleas against other MLAs are still pending.

The Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker, Gaddam Prasad Kumar, has dismissed the petition filed by the BRS seeking the disqualification of Jagtial MLA M Sanjay Kumar. The BRS had accused Kumar of defecting to the ruling Congress party shortly after being elected on a BRS ticket during the 2023 Assembly elections.

Previously, petitions against seven other BRS MLAs were also dismissed, while disqualification pleas against two more MLAs - Danam Nagender and Kadiam Srihari - are pending. Responding to the latest decision, Sanjay Kumar insists that media reports in 2024 about his alleged shift to Congress are inaccurate.

Sanjay Kumar emphasized his commitment to the BRS and his ongoing work with the state government for the development of the Jagtial region. He noted that a part of his salary is still being contributed to the BRS legislative wing, reinforcing his allegiance to the party.
