The Shree Rajput Karni Sena (SRKS) has issued a stern warning to kickstart protests throughout Gujarat unless the controversial UGC regulation is revoked. The regulation is believed to disadvantage general category students. The national president, Mahipal Singh Makrana, insists that their movement is apolitical and not caste-oriented.
Despite supporting the BJP, Makrana expressed his opposition to a regulation they contend unfairly brands higher caste students as troublemakers from day one. He indicated that failing to address these concerns could have dire political consequences for the party, which heavily relies on general category votes.
Makrana also highlighted potential risks to female students' safety, asserting that the law might be misused to file baseless discrimination complaints, leading to severe repercussions for the accused, like expulsion or imprisonment.
