In a significant breakthrough, police on Friday apprehended ten individuals implicated in a buffalo trafficking operation, including senior officials from a local meat export unit.
Among those arrested were the firm's general manager, Ravi Kumar, and liaison officer, Tabrez, as well as security personnel Chitranjan Sharma and Bisharat Husain.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police Neeraj Kumar, a surge in buffalo thefts over recent days led to an extensive investigation, revealing a specific pick-up van making regular deliveries of stolen buffaloes to the factory. Further scrutiny identified repeated illegal activities at the unit, culminating in the arrests. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of this operation.
