The Jharkhand BJP has voiced concerns about the upcoming urban civic polls, requesting the deployment of central forces due to what they describe as a worsening law and order situation. State president Aditya Sahu led a delegation to meet State Election Commissioner Alka Tiwari to discuss these apprehensions.
Sahu accused the ruling JMM-Congress-RJD coalition of systemic corruption, citing incidents of violence and lawlessness across the state as evidence. He claimed that a parallel administration operated by criminals is in charge, undermining fair electoral processes, and called for heightened security at polling and counting stations.
With over 43 lakhs in the electorate, including a significant proportion of women voters, the elections are scheduled for February 23 with results to be announced on February 27. The situation has generated anxiety about the polls' integrity, especially at identified sensitive booths.
