A significant cross-border narcotics smuggling attempt was thwarted at the International Border on Saturday. Officials reported the seizure of over 4 kg of heroin, valued at more than Rs 20 crore. The operation, a collaboration between the Border Security Force (BSF) and local police, was conducted in a forward village within the R S Pura Sector.
The joint operation was initiated following intelligence about a drone dropping contraband over the border. Two packets containing heroin were discovered during the search and promptly seized. Meanwhile, a police case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to identify and apprehend those responsible for the smuggling network.
This significant recovery comes on the heels of the arrest of two individuals, Jatin from Pathankot and Danish Dogra alias Sajan from Kathua, who were allegedly involved in smuggling operations using drones from Pakistan. The duo reportedly communicated with a Pakistan-based smuggler using VoIP calls, highlighting the sophisticated methods employed by these networks.
