Court Drama Unfolds in Sengar Bail Extension Plea
The CBI opposed Jaideep Sengar's request for an interim bail extension citing fabricated medical claims. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma, however, granted an extension for medical verification. Jaideep, sentenced to a decade in prison alongside brother Kuldeep Sengar in the custodial death case linked to the Unnao rape incident, claims severe oral cancer.

The ongoing legal tussle in the high-profile Unnao case saw another day in court on Tuesday as the CBI stood firm against the interim bail extension plea of Jaideep Sengar. Sengar, brother to expelled BJP leader Kuldeep Sengar, sought an extension citing serious health issues.
Jaideep, currently serving a 10-year sentence in the custodial death related to the infamous Unnao rape case, argued for his release based on his Stage IV oral cancer diagnosis—a claim the CBI contests as fabricated. The court's Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma nonetheless extended his bail, advising the CBI to submit a detailed verification report by February 20 to assess the legitimacy of these claims.
This case is a significant chapter in the broader Unnao rape saga involving Kuldeep Sengar, given their extended custodial terms for the deceased father of the rape survivor. As legal proceedings continue, the spotlight remains on the high court's handling of these sensitive and complex criminal appeals.
