High Stakes Legal Battle Over Interim Bail in Unnao Case

In the Delhi High Court, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) contested Jaideep Sengar's plea seeking an extension of his interim bail. Sengar, brother of expelled BJP leader Kuldeep Sengar, had been granted bail due to claims of oral cancer, which he states is life-threatening and requires specialized medical care.

The conflict emerged as the CBI labeled Sengar's medical documentation as fabricated. Despite the court initially indicating a continued extension till February 20, the post-lunch session saw the court asking Sengar to surrender, reaffirming that no indefinite extension was granted.

The court ordered the CBI to provide a detailed verification report on Sengar's health status. Serving a decade in jail for the custodial death case connected to the Unnao rape survivor's father, Sengar claims to need ongoing medical treatment due to his condition, while the legitimacy of this claim remains under scrutiny.
