In a dramatic turn of events, three inmates, including two Pakistani nationals and a local gangster, managed to escape from a juvenile facility in the R S Pura sector of Jammu, officials reported Tuesday. The escape has prompted the suspension of six police officers over alleged dereliction of duty.
The escapees reportedly attacked police personnel and fled from the juvenile home around 5.15 pm on Monday, leaving two officers injured. The suspended officers include an assistant sub-inspector, with the incident triggering a departmental inquiry to uncover how security was breached.
Special law enforcement teams have intensified their efforts, conducting raids at multiple locations in a bid to capture the fugitives. The Jammu and Kashmir police have registered an FIR under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act. High-ranking officers, including the DGP, have commenced a thorough investigation into potential conspiracies and security lapses.
